Great low-cost webcam
The QuickCam Messenger is one little webcam that is totally affordable and works great. The resolution is 640x480, although the native resolution captured by the chip seems lower as at the maximum image quality is not what you'd expect from a true VGA digital camera. But that's ok. I usually run the QuickCam at a lower resolution, to improve framerate over my DSL connection. What's cool about this model is it has a built-in microphone, so you don't need to fumble with an external mic if your PC doesn't already have one built-in. (Tip: wear headset to avoid audio feedback into the mic, which will confuse the heck out of your chat companion!)The webcam captures decent colors. The key is to have good ambient lighting: place a light behind the camera, not behind yourself! Also don't use a strong light source; something soft works best. The camera provides auto-white balance as well as auto exposure. Focus, however, is not automatic, so you need to manually turn the focus ring...

Great All-In-One
I just received this webcam yesterday and in less than ten minutes had it set up on each of my two computers (one with Win2000 Prof- Dell Latitude C610 and the other with XP Home-Dell 4400).The installation of the software is easy, though I would suggest the custom install for those who know a bit about what programs they want and don't want loaded.The picture is fantastic, particularly if you have a bright light or window behind you! The focus ring works well to adjust to different preferred distances from the webcam.The software suite is easy and intuitive to use. Create an .avi movie file with sound by selecting the button and clicking start. To send it to someone simply right-click your resulting file to find the 'email' option. The built in auto-compressor is a nice feature bringing the 2Mb movie to a 60K size for sending that all but the most full email accounts can receive. It took me less than 3 minutes to send a friend a 10sec movie note. For less than $35...

WOW!
I have seen the movie twice within a week, and will see it acouple of more times. I was shivering through the whole movie, it wasso real for me. ... how 'clean' Joan was. First, at the beginning of the film it turns out that she had been to the priest for the third time that day, to confess. Later on the knights do not understand her when she says 'I want to confess. I have not confessed ... today yet' - if your really pay attention, for the environment this is very strange. And, at the end of the movie, she confesses her 'crimes' again. What I want to point out that she had a very strong conscience and she intended to keep it clean. This makes her a candidate to be Saint - as she was given this title 500 years later.This movie IS about reality, the betraying of Joan included. This is what I liked the most (the film being so real).Further on, every split second of the movie is communicating something. a potent and deeply emotional drama
The Messenger is a superbly crafted film that shows us an aspect of war we don't often see on the screen--the military duty to give a "casualty notification," which means they have to inform next of kin that their relative died while serving in the military. Just as others have said, this film is neither anti-war nor pro-war; it examines this single aspect of war, a horrendous consequence of war that no one can deny. The cinematography and the choreography are wonderful; and I am very impressed with the largely improvised scenes in which people are told their relative died. In addition, the script was wonderful and the casting couldn't have been done any better.When the action begins, we meet Staff Sergeant Will Montgomery (Ben Foster) who has been injured in Iraq; his left eye and one of his legs were wounded and it's not at all certain that he will fully recover his sight in that eye and the complete use of his leg. Great movie
Great movie. The performances were amazing & so believable. We probably all know someone who went, or is "over there" (as they refer to it in the movie) and Ben Foster's charecter is so spot on. Woody Harleson's charecter comes accross at first as a hardend war hero, and as the movie progresses we see he is really just a broken man trying to make the best of it all. His one-liners are priceless. (Mamma said they'll be days like this...) I was afraid that this movie might just make me burst into tears, but I didnt cry at all. And thats saying something. This movie is not meant to be depressing. I actually think it's the opposite. Every civillian should be required by law to see this movie. The story told in this movie made me think of how, in the past, WWII and Vietnam, it wasnt just our troops at war, America as a whole was at war. "Support the troops" was more than just a slogan. Think you should cry, but cant
This movie is good. Seeing it once is plenty. The subject is so significant though. The topic is heavy. The acting is wonderful. I kept thinking I was going to cry, but the momentum of the movie never develops that 'tear jerker' element. I can see how it got Oscar nods.
